The concrete slab overhangs at both ceiling height and window sill height for every floor braced by staggered vertical fins of half-storey height. Curved bands of concrete horizontally traversed every floor.[1] It serves as a protection for both sunlight and rain.[2] References1. ^{{Cite book|title = Arkitekturang Filipino: A History of Architecture and Urbanism in the Philippines|last = Lico|first = Gerard|publisher = The University of the Philippines Press|year = 2008|isbn = 978-971-542-579-7|location = Quezon City|pages = 430}} 2. ^{{Cite book|title = Art: Perception and Appreciation|last = Ortiz|first = Maria Aurora|publisher = University of the East|year = 1976|isbn = 971-11-0933-6|location = Manila|pages = 302}} External links{{commons category inline|Capitan Luis Gonzaga Building, Santa Mesa, Manila|Capitan Luis Gonzaga Building, Santa Mesa, Manila}}{{-}}{{Philippines-struct-stub}} 5 : Buildings and structures in Santa Cruz, Manila|Buildings and structures completed in 1953|1953 establishments in the Philippines|Works of National Artists of the Philippines|Modernist architecture in the Philippines |
