She had already started skiing by this time, having first tried it at the age of two, but took up snowboarding in the footsteps of her brothers William and Thomas, who have both also competed in the sport internationally. She started competing internationally for France in 2010. The following year she sustained a pelvis fracture in a crash, which left her in "constant pain" and unable to train at full intensity for several years.[3] She made her debut on the FIS Snowboard World Cup a few months before representing France at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.[3][3] She also competed at the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, where she finished 7th. After the 2018 Games she switched from representing France to competing for Great Britain, in part due to struggling to fully recover from her pelvic injury, despite the French Ski Federation paying for surgery and therapy.[4] She took her first World Cup podium finish for Team GB in a race in Breuil-Cervinia in December 2018, where she pipped her French former team-mate Nelly Moenne-Loccoz to third place.[5] She participated at the FIS Freestyle Ski and Snowboarding World Championships 2019, winning a silver medal in the snowboard cross competition.[6] References1. ^{{cite web |url=http://www.fis-ski.com/snowboard/cross/athletes/athlete=bankes-charlotte-163465/ |title=Snowboard – Snowboard Cross – Athlete: Charlotte Bankes |author=|website=International Ski Federation |access-date=24 March 2017}} 2. ^{{Cite web|url=https://www.j2ski.com/ski-chat-forum/posts/list/0/18500.page#157861|title=Exclusive Interview with Charlotte Bankes – the newest member of GB Snowsport|website=www.j2ski.com|language=en|access-date=21 November 2018}} 3. ^{{cite web|url=https://www.sports-reference.com/olympics/athletes/ba/charlotte-bankes-1.html|title=Charlotte Bankes bio, stats and results|accessdate=20 February 2015}} 4. ^1 2 {{cite web |url=https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/winter-sports/47040791 |title=Charlotte Bankes almost quit snowboarding before GB switch |last=Hope |first=Nick |date=30 January 2019 |website=bbc.co.uk |access-date=3 February 2019}} 5. ^{{cite web |url=https://www.teamgb.com/news/bankes-scoops-first-snowboard-cross-world-cup-medal-of-season |title=Bankes scoops first Snowboard Cross World Cup medal of season |author= |date=21 December 2018 |website=Team GB |access-date=3 February 2019}} 6. ^[https://data.fis-ski.com/pdf/2019/SB/7613/2019SB7613RLF.pdf Snowboard cross results] External links
