Che qualified for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, after winning a gold medal for the women's 72 kg class at the Asian Taekwondo Qualifying Tournament for Beijing Olympic Games in Vietnam. She competed for the women's heavyweight category (+67 kg), where she first defeated Uzbekistan's Evgeniya Karimova in the preliminary match, with a decisive score of 5–4. A few hours later, she lost the quarterfinal match to Norway's Nina Solheim, with a score of 1–3. Because Solheim advanced further into the final match against Mexico's Maria Espinoza, Che was offered another shot for a bronze medal triumph through the repechage bout, where she was eventually defeated by Egypt's Noha Abd Rabo, with a lethargic performance, at a score of 1–5.[4][5] References1. ^{{cite sports-reference|Che Chew Chan|https://www.sports-reference.com/olympics/athletes/ch/che-chew-chan-1.html|6 December 2012}} 3. ^{{cite news |author=Lim, Teik Huat |title=Taekwondo: Chew Chan believes she can beat the odds in Beijing |url=http://thestar.com.my/sports/story.asp?file=/2008/5/21/sports/21312894&sec=sports |archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20080603130323/http://thestar.com.my/sports/story.asp?file=%2F2008%2F5%2F21%2Fsports%2F21312894&sec=sports |dead-url=yes |archive-date=3 June 2008 |publisher=The Star Online (Malaysia) |date=21 May 2008 |accessdate=6 December 2012 |df=dmy-all }} 4. ^{{cite news|title=Chew Chan ends jinx |url=http://news.egypt.com/en/200808243631/news/sports/chew-chan-ends-jinx.html |publisher=Egypt News |date=24 August 2008 |accessdate=6 December 2012 |deadurl=yes |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20110209080626/http://news.egypt.com/en/200808243631/news/sports/chew-chan-ends-jinx.html |archivedate= 9 February 2011 |df= }} 5. ^{{cite web|title=Women's +67kg (+148 lbs) Repechage|url=http://www.2008.nbcolympics.com/taekwondo/resultsandschedules/rsc=TKW167352/index.html|publisher=NBC Olympics|accessdate=6 December 2012|deadurl=yes|archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20120815165256/http://www.2008.nbcolympics.com/taekwondo/resultsandschedules/rsc%3DTKW167352/index.html|archivedate=15 August 2012|df=dmy-all}} External links
