It was founded in 1997 by Bhagya Rangarchar. It aims to provide education using technology to the under-served communities and its solutions serve the base of the pyramid. It operates on an inclusive, low-cost, local model and the model has been implemented in government schools across Karnataka. Its mission is to use technology to create, enhance and monitor the delivery of education in an affordable, scalable and modular manner. CLT India endeavours to strengthen the existing social structure and government schools with a network of support for pedagogy, technology, infrastructure and mentoring programs through collaboration. CLT India is a certified Guidestar Gold level participant.[1] It was chosen as a Dasra fellow for their Research Publication in partnership with USAID as one of the few Change Makers that are making a difference in the way girls are impacted in secondary schools.[2] Having scaled up the low cost technology model, CLT's e-Patashale content runs in over 6,000 classrooms in Karnataka today. CISCO has funded the organisation to extend this program to Rajasthan also. Key InterventionCLT India addresses the challenge[3] of shortage of teachers with subject expertise, student disengagement, lack of quality learning resources and missed opportunities in rural schools. By giving equal learning opportunities for girls and boys with quality e-learning resources for STEM education, it is able to bridge many gaps, including the gender gap and digital divide. e-Patashalee-Patashale is a low-cost digital content for school curriculum to improve learning outcomes. The main objective is to come up with low-cost solutions for intervention programs that are locally relevant, easy to replicate and scale; build a network of passionate Master Teachers to create curricula-aligned, digital content repository for K-12; leverage the advantages of technology for giving access to good pedagogy and best teaching. CLT Resource Centre acts as a hub where pedagogy experts gather and develop educational content. CLT India has been engaging in sourcing qualified teachers and transforming their expertise to low-cost digital education content that is inclusive, scalable and replicable. The content is created by many qualified teachers in urban cities and passed on to in-house developers to develop into lesson materials, transferring the expertise of qualified teachers to rural government schools. It is an extensive library of teaching resources for Math, Science and English Grammar for grades 5 to 10. It boasts of a multi-media content basket of videoss, slides and PDfs. In addition to notes, it also offers quizzes and assessment, based on the Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation. It is currently available in English and Kannada. e-Patashale follows the national curriculum closely and is approved and recommended by the Department of Education.{{citation needed|date=October 2015}} It is currently available on Windows and Android devices, including PCs, tablets and mobile phones. It can be accessed in both non-connectivity environment and online environment as course-ware videos and e-books.[4] A free mobile app m_pata is also available on Google Playstore.[5] Other ProgramsMid-day school mealsChildren's LoveCastles Trust started in 1997 by providing mid-day meals to the Basavanagudi Government School. It went on to adopt another school in Poornapura in 1998. A total of eight schools were adopted and a food bank programme and an Angganwasi milk Programme were started. The food-bank programme was scrapped after the State Government implemented the midday meal scheme in Jakkur.[6] Intel Computer ClubhouseIn addition to during-school intervention programmes, CLT India also provides after-school intervention. CLT India was selected to host the second Intel Computer Clubhouse in 2002.[7] It is an after-school center for 750 children, ages 9–19, from Jakkur village in Bangalore. Under the guidance of adult mentors, children develop technology skills and create digital projects. Every two years, three children from the clubhouse go to Boston to take part in the Teen Summit, a week-long international youth leadership programme. CLT India is also part of the Adobe Youth Voices program since 2008.{{fact|date=May 2018}} Digital EducationCLT started creating digital education content in 2006. E-learning classrooms in rural schools were set up with CLT content. A total of 300 classrooms were set up in the years 2007 to 2010. CLT also partnered with Cisco for live distance-teaching in 2011.[8] CLT provided the education content which was delivered remotely using the Cisco® Education Enabled Development (CEED) platform. The program was implemented in 42 classrooms over the period of 2011 to 2014.[9] Awards and recognition
