The Oxford, Worcester and Wolverhampton Railway was opened in stages. The section between {{stnlnk|Evesham}} and Wolvercot Junction, to the north of {{stnlnk|Oxford}}, was opened on 4 June 1853;[1] the station at Campden was opened at the same time, and was originally named Mickleton.[2] It was later renamed Campden,[3] and in February 1952 became Chipping Campden.[4] It closed on 3 January 1966.[5] Reopening PlansThere are proposals for new stations at Withington and Chipping Campden. A long-standing proposal for a new station at {{rws|Worcester (Norton) Parkway}} where the line crosses the Birmingham and Bristol Railway has now substantial funding. It is anticipated that the proposal will go to the Planning stage early 2015.
