It is endemic to South Africa.[1] This shade-loving species is found at seeps and streams in forests and wooded valleys.[2] It is 47–57 mm long with a wingspan of 55–72 mm. Males and females are similar; the thorax and abdomen are metallic-green aging to coppery brown. The thorax has contrasting yellow antehumeral stripes; these are more broad than those of the similar Mountain Malachite.[2] References1. ^1 {{Cite journal | author = Suhling, F. | title = Chlorolestes tessellatus | journal = The IUCN Red List of Threatened Species | volume = 2010 | page = e.T63179A12609384 | publisher = IUCN | date = 2010 | url = http://www.iucnredlist.org/details/63179/0 | doi = 10.2305/IUCN.UK.2010-3.RLTS.T63179A12609384.en | access-date = 13 January 2018}} 2. ^1 {{cite book|last1=Tarboton|first1=Warwick|last2=Tarboton|first2=Michèle|title=A Guide to the Dragonflies and Damselflies of South Africa|date=2015|publisher=Struik Nature|location=Cape Town|isbn=9781775841845}} External links
