Her sister Karin O'Reilly Clashing competed in the 50 m freestyle at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London.[2][3] Eight years before her sister Karin participated, Clashing qualified for the same event, 50 m freestyle, at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, as a 14-year-old swimmer from Antigua. She received a Universality place from FINA in an entry time of 34.36.[4] She challenged six other swimmers in heat two, including Bahrain's Sameera Al-Bitar, who shared the same age with Clashing. She posted a lifetime best of 31.55 to earn a fourth spot by 0.55 of a second behind joint winners Al-Bitar and Ghazal El Jobeili of Lebanon. Clashing failed to advance into the semifinals, as she placed sixty-seventh overall on the last day of preliminaries.[5][6] References1. ^{{cite sports-reference|Christal Clashing|https://www.sports-reference.com/olympics/athletes/cl/christal-clashing-1.html|7 May 2013}} {{DEFAULTSORT:Clashing, Christal}}{{Antigua-swimming-bio-stub}}2. ^{{cite news|last=Hillhouse|first=Joanne|title=Clashing Gets Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship|url=http://www.antiguaobserver.com/clashing-gets-rotary-ambassadorial-scholarship/|publisher=Antigua Observer|date=28 August 2009|accessdate=7 May 2013|deadurl=yes|archiveurl=https://archive.is/20130628104421/http://www.antiguaobserver.com/clashing-gets-rotary-ambassadorial-scholarship/|archivedate=28 June 2013|df=}} 3. ^{{cite news|last=Martinez|first=Tiffany|title=Summer Olympian makes CU her new home|url=http://aggiecentral.com/2012/09/4862/|publisher=Aggie Central|accessdate=7 May 2013}} 4. ^{{cite web|title=Swimming – Women's 50m Freestyle Startlist (Heat 2)|url=http://www.omegatiming.com/File/Download?id=000104060049000000FFFFFFFFFFFF00|format=PDF|work=Athens 2004|publisher=Omega Timing|accessdate=19 April 2013}} 5. ^{{cite web|title=Women's 50m Freestyle Heat 2|url=http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/olympics_2004/swimming/results/3535060.stm|work=Athens 2004|publisher=BBC Sport|date=20 August 2004|accessdate=31 January 2013}} 6. ^{{cite news|last=Thomas |first=Stephen |title=Women's 50 Freestyle, Prelims Day 7: Inky Sizzles in World Best 24.66, Joyce Next in PR 25.06, Jenny Thompson Makes It Too |url=http://www.swimmingworldmagazine.com/lane9/news/7915.asp |publisher=Swimming World Magazine |date=20 August 2004 |accessdate=19 April 2013 |deadurl=yes |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20120204111631/http://www.swimmingworldmagazine.com/lane9/news/7915.asp |archivedate= 4 February 2012 |df= }} 10 : 1989 births|Living people|Antigua and Barbuda female swimmers|Olympic swimmers of Antigua and Barbuda|Swimmers at the 2004 Summer Olympics|Commonwealth Games competitors for Antigua and Barbuda|Swimmers at the 2006 Commonwealth Games|Swimmers at the 2010 Commonwealth Games|Female freestyle swimmers|Sportspeople from San José, Costa Rica |
