The Church Buttes is an eroded sandstone butte formation in Uinta County, Wyoming. It is notable for its prehistorical archaeological remains as well as being the location a camp site for the first party of Mormon leader Brigham Young, July 7, 1847. It was the site of one of the relays for the pony express.[2] The U.S. Geographic Names Information System identifies another Church Butte in Sweetwater County, Wyoming.[3] References1. ^1 {{citation | first1=Carol | last1=Guthrie | first2=Bart | last2=Smith | title=The Pony Express: An Illustrated History | series=Two Dot Series | publisher=Globe Pequot | year=2009 | isbn=0762748168 | page=90 | url=https://books.google.com/books?id=_a86kbD4I7cC&pg=PA90 | postscript=. }} [1][2]2. ^1 {{cite web |url ={{GNIS 3|1586711}} |title =Church Butte |work =Geographic Names Information System |publisher =United States Geological Survey |accessdate =2013-12-31}} }} External links
