Built in 1911, it is the oldest surviving public school in Cheyenne. The school is named for James Otis Churchill, Cheyenne's Superintendent of Schools for nearly two decades. Prominent Cheyenne architect William Dubois gave the school a Prairie design with an American Foursquare plan; the school was the first of several designed by Dubois in Cheyenne. The two-story brick building features a stepped parapet along its flat roof.[2] The school was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.[1] References1. ^1 {{NRISref|version=2010a}} {{National Register of Historic Places}}{{Wyoming-NRHP-stub}}2. ^{{cite web|last1=Rosenberg|first1=Robert G.|title=National Register of Historic Places Registration Form: Churchill Public School|url={{NRHP url|id=05000704}}|publisher=National Park Service|accessdate=April 4, 2015|date=December 31, 2004}} {{NRHP url|id=05000704|title=Accompanied by photos|photos=y}}. 5 : School buildings on the National Register of Historic Places in Wyoming|Prairie School architecture in Wyoming|School buildings completed in 1911|Buildings and structures in Cheyenne, Wyoming|National Register of Historic Places in Cheyenne, Wyoming |
