The ancient parish church, dedicated to St Leonard, has some Norman features in one of its windows and it has a Norman font. Its tower and the arcades of the north and south aisles date from the 14th century and it has 15th-century arches of Polyphant stone.[2][3] It was partly restored in 1873.[2] Blagdon a former manor house, is situated nearby. Other notable buildings in the parish are ; Gunnacott, which Pevsner says has unusually rich 17th-century carpentry for north Devon; and Eastcombe, which has a sundial on its front that is dated 1737 and bears an unusual inscription.{{efn|The inscription reads: 'the time is shown at all hours of the day at Jerusalem and Barbados, whilst noon tide only is shown at Goa, Isfahan' (and ten other places).[3]}}[3]Notes{{notelist}}References1. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.devon.gov.uk/devon_districts_2002_.pdf|title=Map of Devon Parishes|publisher=Devon County Council|accessdate=20 June 2013}} {{Commons category inline|Clawton}}{{coord|50|46|N|4|20|W|display=title|region:GB_type:city_source:GNS-enwiki}}{{Torridge}}{{Devon parishes}}2. ^1 2 {{Cite book|last = Harris|first = Helen|title = A Handbook of Devon Parishes|publisher = Halsgrove|location = Tiverton|year = 2004|page = 168|isbn = 1-84114-314-6}} 3. ^1 2 {{cite book |title= Devon (The Buildings of England)|author=Cherry, Bridget & Pevsner, Nikolaus |publisher=Penguin |location=Harmondsworth | year=1989 |page=267|isbn=0-14-071050-7}} 2 : Villages in Devon|Torridge District |
