It was described by George Hampson in 1899.[1] It is found in the eastern Andes, from Bolivia to Ecuador, as well as in Guatemala and Costa Rica. The length of the forewings is 12–15 mm for males and 12–16 mm for females. The forewing costa is dark beige and the basal area is beige. The medial area is beige to pale tan or glossy off-white, or even nearly uniform orange-brown. The postmedial line consist of black dots on the veins and the postmedial area is dark beige. The hindwings are translucent or smoky translucent.
