It is native to the United States, where it occurs in the southeastern states, especially the southern Appalachian Mountains, its distribution extending north to Ohio.[2] This rhizomatous herb has two to three pairs of leaves and an unbranched inflorescence bearing white, pink, or lavender flowers, each with four stamens.[2] The plant grows in rich soils in mountain forests. Besides this, very little is known about this species.[2] References1. ^Collinsonia verticillata NatureServe 2. ^1 2 Collinsonia verticillata. {{webarchive|url=https://web.archive.org/web/20111026092736/http://www.centerforplantconservation.org/Collection/CPC_ViewProfile.asp?CPCNum=6182 |date=2011-10-26 }} Center for Plant Conservation.
