It was described by Francis Walker in 1863.[1] It is found in South Africa.[2] Adults are dark cinereous (ash gray), the forewings with a few black points near the base, and with three dark brown marks, which have black and silvery borders. These marks consist of two interior spots and a broad exterior undulating streak, which is forked towards the costa. The marginal line is silvery, with an exterior blackish border, which is interrupted by some silvery streaks on the brownish-cinereous fringe. The hindwings are brownish cinereous.[3] References1. ^{{cite web |last=Beccaloni |first=George |display-authors=etal |date=February 2005 |url=http://www.nhm.ac.uk/our-science/data/lepindex/search/ |title=Scientific name search |website=The Global Lepidoptera Names Index |publisher=Natural History Museum, London}} {{Taxonbar|from=Q13474927}}{{Eriocottidae-stub}}2. ^{{cite web |last1=De Prins |first1=J. |last2=De Prins |first2=W. |last-author-amp=yes |date=2017 |url=http://www.afromoths.net/species_by_code/COMPCONN |title=Compsoctena connexalis (Walker, 1863) |website=Afromoths |accessdate=February 4, 2018}} 3. ^[https://www.biodiversitylibrary.org/item/120180#page/538/mode/1up Walker, F. 1863.
