}}Cylindromyia interrupta is a species of fly in the family Tachinidae.[2][3][4][5] Distribution and habitatThis species is present in most of Europe, Russia and in North America ( Alaska to California, North Dakota, Colorado and New Jersey).[1][6] These tachnid flies live in hedge rows and dry meadows.[7] DescriptionCylindromyia interrupta can reach a length of {{convert|6|-|8|mm}} and a wingspan of {{convert|12|mm}}.[7][8] Body is slender. Thorax is black, while the abdomen is reddish with two silver rings, a wide longitudinal black marking and black apical tergites. Hind tibiae have 1 or 2 posteroventral bristles. Apical scutellars are absent. The abdomen has median discal bristles on tergites 1, 2, 3 and 4.[9] The bright white calypteres stand out.[8]BiologyAdults can be found from May to August. They mainly feed on nectar and pollen of Apiaceae (especially Leucanthemum vulgare).[7] This tachnid fly parasitizes moths and true bugs (Hemiptera). The larvae develop inside the living host.[8][10] References1. ^1 Catalogue of life {{Taxonbar|from=Q5199320}}{{Phasiinae-stub}}2. ^{{cite book | last = Chandler | first = Peter J. | year = 1998 | title = Checklists of Insects of the British Isles (New Series) Part 1: Diptera | journal = Handbooks for the Identification of British Insects | volume = 12 | issue = 1 | series = New Series | pages = 1–234 | isbn = 0-901546-82-8 | publisher = Royal Entomological Society of London | location = London }} 3. ^{{cite journal |title= Tachinid Flies Diptera Tachinidae|last= Belshaw|first= Robert|year= 1993|work= |publisher= Royal Entomological Society of London |journal= Royal Entomological Society Handbooks|volume=10 |issue= 4ai |pages= 170}} 4. ^{{cite journal |title= Ditera Cyclorrhapha Calyptrata (I) Section (a) Tachinidae & Calliphoridae |last= van Emden|first= F.I. |year= 1954|work= |publisher= Royal Entomological Society of London |journal= Royal Entomological Society Handbooks|volume=10 |issue= 4a |pages= 133}} 5. ^[https://www.biolib.cz/en/taxon/id124758/ Biolib] 6. ^Fauna europaea 7. ^1 2 Commanster 8. ^1 2 John Sankey Insects in an Urban Garden - Diptera 9. ^Key to the genus Cylindromyia - Tachinid Recording Scheme 10. ^The Tachinid Times 3 : Phasiinae|Diptera of Europe|Insects described in 1824 |
