An Altona resident originally zoned to South Melbourne Saunders was dealt to Footscray as his grandmother resided in Seddon[1] He made six appearances in the 1986 VFL season, then had a stint at East Ballarat.[2][3] In 1987 he began playing for Collingwood and his seven games that year included a semi final loss to Melbourne.[2] He played four games in Collingwood's premiership year, 1990, the last in round five.[2] After his AFL career ended, Saunders played for Victorian Football Association club Werribee.[4] References1. ^{{cite book|last=Holmesby|first=Russell|last2=Main|first2=Jim|title=The Encyclopedia Of AFL Footballers| publisher=BAS Publishing|year=2007|isbn=9781920910785}} {{DEFAULTSORT:Saunders, Darren}}2. ^1 2 AFL Tables: Darren Saunders 3. ^The Age, "Manson out: 2 Woods in doubt", 29 April 1988, p. 28 4. ^{{cite news|newspaper=The Age|publication-place=Melbourne, VIC|page=26|author=Stewart Oldfield|date=15 April 1994|title=VFA opens new season with changing of guard}} 7 : 1965 births|Australian rules footballers from Victoria (Australia)|Western Bulldogs players|Collingwood Football Club players|Werribee Football Club players|East Ballarat Football Club players|Living people |
