He was first elected in the 2015 election, where he held the seat for the Wildrose Party after incumbent MLA Shayne Saskiw did not seek re-election.[1][2] BackgroundHanson was born in Two Hills, Alberta in either 1960 or 1961, where he spent his childhood. After graduating high school, Hanson attended Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) in 1982, where he was qualified in plumbing, gasfitting, and steamfitting. He has since worked for various construction and oil companies, and lives on a farm outside St. Paul, Alberta.[2][3] Prior to being elected, he worked for Canadian Natural Resources Limited as a supervisor. He cites his desire to help the oil and gas field as being rooted in his own experience in the industry. He also references his two children working in the medical field as motivation for prioritizing health issues.[2] Political careerHanson served as critic for Indigenous Relations as well as Emergency Response and Disaster Preparedness for the Wildrose opposition. When the party merged with the Progressive Conservatives in 2017, he joined the new party and continued as its critic for Indigenous Relations.[4] Electoral history{{CANelec/top|AB|2015|Lac La Biche-St. Paul-Two Hills|percent=yes|change=yes}}{{CANelec|AB|Wildrose|Dave Hanson|4,760|38.65%| -7.91%}}{{CANelec|AB|NDP|Catherine Harder|4,213|34.21%| +28.68%}}{{CANelec|AB|PC|Darrell Younghans|3,002|24.38%| -18.02%}}{{CANelec|AB|Green|Brian Deheer|340|2.76%}}{{CANelec/total|Total valid votes|12,315}}{{CANelec/total|Rejected, spoiled and declined|73}}{{CANelec/total|Electors/turnout|23,476|52.77%| -6.49%}}{{CANelec/hold|AB|Wildrose| -18.30%}}{{end}}{{Alberta provincial election, 2019/Bonnyville-Cold Lake-St. Paul}}References1. ^{{cite news|title=Live Alberta election results 2015: Real-time results in the provincial election|url=http://globalnews.ca/news/1971080/live-alberta-election-results-2015/|accessdate=2 April 2016|work=Global News|date=January 21, 2016}} {{Alberta MLAs}}{{DEFAULTSORT:Hanson, Dave}}{{Alberta-politician-stub}}2. ^1 2 {{cite news|last1=Muise|first1=Luke|title=Political newcomer named Wildrose candidate for LLB - St. Paul -Two Hills|url=http://www.laclabichepost.com/article/20150323/LLB0801/150329988|accessdate=3 April 2016|work=Lac La Biche Post|date=23 March 2015}} 3. ^{{cite web|title=Mr. David B.
