On March 19, 2015 he was appointed to the newly created role of Director of White House Information Technology by U.S. President Barack Obama.[4] Recordon was formerly employed as an Open Platforms Tech Lead at blogging company Six Apart and more recently as a Facebook Engineering Director.[5] Recordon is best known for his involvement in development and popularization of OpenID. Recordon is an active proponent of OAuth and microformats.
