In season two, made in 1992, Wood replaced Grigor Taylor.[2] PlotTwo newlyweds have different political views. Cast
ProductionWriter Michael Riordan was a teacher whose father Joe was a Housing Minister in the Whitman government. He approached John O'Grady and Geoff Portmann who were the producers of Mother and Son. They shot a pilot in 1987 with Jackie Weaver and John Waters. However neither were able to reprise their roles - Waters had stage commitments and Weaver went into another sitcom, House Rules.[3] Critical reception was not entirely positive.[4] However it was decided to revive the show in 1992 with John Wood replacing Taylor.[5] References1. ^Albert Moran, Moran's Guide to Australian TV Series, AFTRS 1993 p 141 2. ^{{cite web|url=https://www.memorabletv.com/tv/dearest-enemy-abc-1989-and-1992-with-grigor-taylor-and-john-wood/|title=Dearest Enemy|website=Memorable TV}} 3. ^{{cite news |url=http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article122260569 |title=DEAREST ENEMY |newspaper=The Canberra Times |volume=63, |issue=19,570 |location=Australian Capital Territory, Australia |date=8 May 1989 |accessdate=6 September 2018 |page=27 |via=National Library of Australia}} 4. ^{{cite news |url=http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article122262510 |title=Improving our averages with 25 words or more |newspaper=The Canberra Times |volume=63, |issue=19,577 |location=Australian Capital Territory, Australia |date=15 May 1989 |accessdate=6 September 2018 |page=32 |via=National Library of Australia}} 5. ^{{cite news |url=http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article122406814 |title=No surprises as Canberra gets another bashing |newspaper=The Canberra Times |volume=66, |issue=20,805 |location=Australian Capital Territory, Australia |date=30 March 1992 |accessdate=6 September 2018 |page=4 (THE GUIDE) |via=National Library of Australia}} External links
