The 19019/19020 Bandra Terminus - Dehradun Express is an express train of Indian Railways that runs between {{rws|Bandra Terminus}} and {{rws|Dehradun}} in India. It is a daily service.

It operates as train number 19019 from {{rws|Bandra Terminus}} to {{rws|Dehradun}} and as train number 19020 in the reverse direction.

Coaches

The train has standard ICF rakes with max speed of 110 kmph. The train consist of 16 coaches :

  • 1 AC II cum III Tier
  • 9 Sleeper Coaches
  • 3 General Unreserved
  • 1 High Capacity Parcel Van
  • 2 Seating cum Luggage Rake

It carries parcel vans on a frequent basis. About four Sleeper class coaches and two General coaches are detached/attached from the train at {{rws|Haridwar Junction}}.

Service

It is a daily train and covers the distance of 1682 kilometres in 41 hours 30 mins as 19019 Dehradun Express (40.53 km/hr) and 42 hours 20 mins as 19020 Dehradun Express (40.29 km/hr).

Traction

Before the Mumbai region changed traction to an AC system, a WCAM 1 engine would haul the train until Vadodara from where a Vadodara based WAP 4 or WAP 5 would take over until Hazrat Nizamuddin after which a WDM 3A engine from the Tuglakabad shed would take over until Dehradun.

Since Western Railways switched over to AC traction, a Ghaziabad based WAP-7 hauls the train until Hazrat Nizamuddin after which a WDM 3A engine from the Tuglakabad shed takes over until Dehradun.

Now, both trains are hauled by a Ghaziabad based WAP-7 or WAP-5 uptil {{rws|Dehradun}} and vice versa.

Schedule and Route

19019 Bandra Terminus - Dehradun Express leaves {{rws|Bandra Terminus}} every day at 00:05 AM IST and reaches {{rws|Dehradun}} at 17:35 PM IST the next day.[1]

19020 Dehradun - Bandra Terminus Express leaves {{rws|Dehradun}} every day at 10:00 AM IST and reaches {{rws|Bandra Terminus}} at 04:20 AM IST on the 3rd day.[2]

Incidents

On 8 January 2014, a fire broke out on one of the trains when it was near Dahanu station in Maharashtra. Three carriages were involved. Some passengers escaped "by breaking open the back doors"[3]

but nine were killed.[4]
