S. Madhu, starring Karthik Muthuraman and Revathi in lead roles. The film, produced by T. Siva, had musical score by Ilaiyaraaja and was released on 11 September 1992. The film generated average profits at the box office.[1][2] It is a remake of the Telugu film Sankeerthana. PlotHamsaveni (Revathi) after channelling the voice of the Goddess in childhood, is treated as such by her grateful village after water is found after a drought. Her elder brother Vallatharai (Vijayakumar) exploits his young sister's powers to make himself rich. When Hamsaveni falls in love with misunderstood drunk-with-heart-of-gold Thambi Durai (Karthik), Vallatharai is unhappy with her decision, due to the difference in status between the two and, more importantly, he can see his money supply running out. So Vallatharai tries to put Thambi Durai off in various ways from marrying his sister. Cast

ReceptionThe Indian Express wrote "Here the storyline is thin, the script is not that engaging, but the effective camera work [..] A superb performance by petite Revathi [..] saves the film from being run-of-the-mill".[5] New Straits Times wrote "This movie should be of special interest to those who frequently seek advice from temple mediums".[6]References1. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.jointscene.com/movies/kollywood/Deiva%20Vaakku/10075 |title=Find Tamil Movie Deiva Vaakku |accessdate=2011-10-26 |publisher=jointscene.com }}{{dead link|date=December 2016 |bot=InternetArchiveBot |fix-attempted=yes }} 2. ^{{cite web|url=http://popcorn.oneindia.in/title/6478/deiva-vaakku.html |title=Deiva Vaakku |accessdate=2011-10-26 |publisher=popcorn.oneindia.in }}{{dead link|date=December 2016 |bot=InternetArchiveBot |fix-attempted=yes }} 3. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.raaga.com/channels/tamil/album/T0000569.html|title=Deiva Vaakku Songs|accessdate=2011-10-26|publisher=raaga.com}} 4. ^https://www.thehindu.com/features/friday-review/music/sivaranjani-for-pathos/article3945587.ece 5. ^https://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=P9oYG7HA76QC&dat=19920911&printsec=frontpage&hl=en 6. ^https://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=x8G803Bi31IC&dat=19921003&printsec=frontpage&hl=en External links
