The primary component is a red M-type bright giant, and the secondary is a B-type main-sequence star.[2] It is approximately 590 light years from Earth, based on its parallax.[1] Delta Sagittae is a spectroscopic binary with a composite spectrum, meaning that light from both stars can be detected. It has an orbital period of about 10 years and an eccentricity of about 0.44.[7] Delta Sagittae is moving through the Galaxy at a speed of 9.8 km/s relative to the Sun. Its projected Galactic orbit carries it between 23,800 and 35,300 light years from the center of the Galaxy.[9]{{Better source|reason=This source is inaccessible.|date=July 2017}} NamingIn Chinese, {{lang|zh|左旗}} ({{lang|zh-Latn|Zuǒ Qí}}), meaning Left Flag, refers to an asterism consisting of δ Sagittae, α Sagittae, β Sagittae, ζ Sagittae, γ Sagittae, 13 Sagittae, 11 Sagittae, 14 Sagittae and ρ Aquilae. Consequently, δ Sagittae itself is known as {{lang|zh|左旗三}} ({{lang|zh-Latn|Zuǒ Qí sān}}, {{lang-en|the Third Star of Left Flag}}.)[10] References1. ^1 2 3 4 5 {{cite journal|title=Validation of the new Hipparcos reduction|url=http://www.aanda.org/index.php?option=com_article&access=bibcode&Itemid=129&bibcode=2007A%2526A...474..653VFUL|author1=van Leeuwen, F.|display-authors=etal|journal=Astronomy and Astrophysics|volume=474|issue=2|pages=653–664|date=2007|arxiv=0708.1752|bibcode=2007A&A...474..653V|doi=10.1051/0004-6361:20078357}} {{-}}{{Stars of Sagitta}}{{giant-star-stub}}{{multi-star-stub}}2. ^1 {{cite simbad|title=* del Sge|access-date=23 February 2017}} 3. ^Calculated from subtracting magnitudes. 4. ^1 {{cite journal|author1=Mermilliod, J.-C.|title=Compilation of Eggen's UBV data, transformed to UBV (unpublished)|url=http://cdsads.u-strasbg.fr/cgi-bin/nph-bib_query?1986EgUBV........0M&db_key=AST&nosetcookie=1|date=1986|bibcode= 1986EgUBV........0M }} 5. ^{{cite journal|title=General catalogue of stellar radial velocities|author=Wilson, Ralph Elmer|date=1953|bibcode=1953GCRV..C......0W}} 6. ^{{citation | title=XHIP: An extended hipparcos compilation | last1=Anderson | first1=E. | last2=Francis | first2=Ch. | journal=Astronomy Letters | volume=38 | issue=5 | pages=331 | year=2012 | bibcode=2012AstL...38..331A | doi=10.1134/S1063773712050015 | arxiv=1108.4971 | postscript=. }} 7. ^1 2 3 4 5 6 7 {{cite journal|title=Winds and accretion in delta Sagittae|author=Eaton, Joel A.|author2=Hartkopf, William I.|author3=McAlister, Harold A.|author4=Mason, Brian D.|journal=Astronomical Journal|volume=109|number=4|pages=1856–1866|date=1995|bibcode=1995AJ....109.1856E|doi=10.1086/117412}} 8. ^1 2 3 4 {{cite journal|title=A critical test of empirical mass loss formulas applied to individual giants and supergiants|author1=Schröder, K.-P.|author2=Cuntz, M.|journal=Astronomy and Astrophysics|volume=465|issue=2|pages=593–601|date=2007|bibcode=2007A&A...465..593S|doi=10.1051/0004-6361:20066633|arxiv=astro-ph/0702172}} 9. ^Delta Sagittae (HIP 97365) 10. ^{{zh icon}} AEEA (Activities of Exhibition and Education in Astronomy) 天文教育資訊網 2006 年 7 月 3 日 9 : Bayer objects|Sagitta (constellation)|M-type bright giants|Flamsteed objects|Hipparcos objects|HR objects|Henry Draper Catalogue objects|Durchmusterung objects|Spectroscopic binaries |
