It is subscription based OTT platform that works in partnership with leading theatre & performing arts companies to capture live performances onscreen giving consumers and education institutions unlimited access to them. The company was founded by Robert Delamere and Tom Shaw and launched in 2009. In 2015, Digital Theatre was acquired by Root Capital LLP. Digital Theatre produces films of stage productions in high-definition that can be downloaded or streamed as video on demand via its website, digitaltheatre.com (consumer) or digitaltheatreplus.com (education). Partner companies include the Royal Shakespeare Company, Almeida Theatre, the Royal Court Theatre, the English Touring Theatre, Royal Opera House, English National Ballet, Opera North, L.A. Theatre Works, Frantic Assembly, Lyric Theatre (Hammersmith), the Young Vic, the Old Vic & the Open Air Theatre, Regent's Park.[1][2][3][4]

All My Sons (2011) - Howard Davies’ production of Arthur Miller’s 1947 play.

Into the Woods (2011) - Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s dark and humorous musical twist on the Brothers Grimm stories.[5]

As You Like It (2011) - The RSC’s production of Shakespeare’s comedy.[6][7]

The Comedy of Errors (2010) - RSC/Told By An Idiot co-production.[8]

The Comedy of Errors – The Documentary (2010) - Behind the scenes documentary.

Kafka’s Monkey (2010) - Kathryn Hunter as Red Peter, the Ape. A Young Vic production adapted by Colin Teevan.

Parlour Song (2010) - Jez Butterworth’s comedy with Amanda Drew, Toby Jones and Andrew Lincoln. An Almeida Theatre Company production directed by Ian Rickson

Over There (2009) - The Royal Court’s production of Mark Ravenhill’s play where twins are reunited by the fall of the Berlin Wall.

The Container (2009) - Clare Bayley’s story of illegal immigration performed inside a shipping container outside the Young Vic.

Far From the Madding Crowd (2009) - English Touring Theatre’s staging of Thomas Hardy’s novel adapted by Mark Healey.[9]

Gulf Stage

Gulf Stage is a collaboration between Digital Theatre, the British Council, the Qatar Ministry of Culture, Arts & Heritage and the Qatar Foundation. Involving productions from Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, Gulf Stage was set up as a competition. Performances were chosen specifically to represent the participating countries and shot over a six-day period on location at the National Theatre of Qatar.[10][11][12]
