Club careerOn 26 August 2016, Giannoulis extended his contract with PAOK until the summer of 2020. After two full seasons with Pierikos and Veria (where he earned the accolade of Super League's best rookie player) he remained in PAOK's roster and is looking for his opportunity.[1] On January 20, 2017 it was announced that Giannoulis signed a six month loan deal with the Cypriot club Anorthosis with the option of renewing the loan deal for one further year.[2] On 27 June 2017, Atromitos announced the acquisition of the midfielder on a two years' contract on loan from PAOK.[3] On 31 December 2018, PAOK rejected Rennes' proposal of €2.2m for the Greek international, indicating that he is counting on him after the end of his lending to Atromitos.[4] However, at the same time, 23-year old Dimitris Giannoulis is set to be recalled by PAOK from his loan at Atromitos. This season, the promising left-back has shone under Damir Canadi’s coaching in Peristeri, tallying three assists in 14 Super League matches. Giannoulis has been playing with Atromitos as a loanee since 2017, but given his excellent showings, PAOK now feel this is the right time to take him back to PAOK.[5] International careerOn 15 May 2018, he made his debut with Greek national team along with another nine footballers who made their international debut in a 2–0 friendly loss against Saudi Arabia, where he saw a red card two minutes before the interval. Giannoulis being the first player in the Greek national team’s history to be sent off on his debut.[6] Personal lifeGiannoulis' older brother, Kostas, is also a footballer.
