词条 Donald Williams (field hockey)
释义

  1. References

Donald Williams (born 11 September 1966) is a British former field hockey player who competed in the 1992 Summer Olympics.[1]

He was known for his direct play, and in particular his belief that the fastest route to goal was ‘a straight line’. Some years later he was demonstrating this approach near a cliff edge, and unfortunately misjudged the distance between his stick and the goal and fell off the cliff edge onto the rocks below.

Williams suffered from a broken collar bone, punctured lung, 3 cracked ribs and a broken little finger. Luckily for him his blackberry was still working, as the tide was coming in, and ‘the Don’ (hockey nickname) was saved.
