He went on to play non-League football for Whitby Town.[2] Life and careerBurluraux was born in Skelton, which was then in the North Riding of Yorkshire,[2] the son of Fred Burluraux, who had a brief professional career with Hartlepools United in the 1930s.[3] He played youth football for Staithes Juniors before signing for Middlesbrough. He made his first-team debut in the 1970–71 Football League season, but after just five Second Division matches, he suffered badly torn ankle ligaments.[4] After a brief spell on loan at York City, Burluraux signed for Fourth Division club Darlington.
