He is also a prolific writer with over 7 books of poetry[2] BatboyBert started his career as a batboy as an assistant visiting-team batboy earning $2 a day for the NY Giants in 1948. In 1949 he was hired as a batboy for the New York Yankees an event noted in a headline in the New York Sun "Giants trade batboy to NY Yankees." Bert Padell was a bat boy for the New York Yankees from 1949-1950[3].
