Since the foundation, the company is specialized in the production of mixers for biogas and agricultural plants as well as for the industrial area and was thus the first manufacturer of mixers in 1957.[1] HistoryOn 31 March 1957 the business was registered as "Workshop for development, production and repair of electrical and mechanical equipment, machinery and equipment" by Gerhard Thürwächter in Kühbach. On 1th April 1957, Gerhard Thürwächter began with the construction of mixers and hay carts. During the first business year the farmer Clemens Merk entered the company. Thereby the company bid more security for the banks. G. Thürwächter and C. Merk used the first year for customer acquisition and established the first agitator "Rekordmix". 6 years later, after distribution of the first Rekordmix the next generation Rekordmix B was brought to market. At that time there are no patents and only advertising texts evidences the pioneering task from 1963. Competitors in the sector of agricultural engineering have started in spite of a long existence with manufacturing of agitators until years later. Consecutively some competitors, which were established before or at the same time, and the date of manufacturing the first agitators:
As the first manufacturer of electrical manure mixers, the company had already interested parties and customers in the Netherlands, England, Ireland, Norway, Austria and Switzerland and had to expand because of the high demand in the year 1965. The company moved in an old farmhouse in the middle of Sulzberg (Germany). The barn was used as factory and had space for 15 qualified workers. During the time, Clemens Merk left the company and Gerhard Thürwächter developed the first tractor-hitched agitator "Giantmix". In 1972, the company was renamed in "Thürwächter Sondermaschinen GmbH" and invested in new machinery to work more effectively. A few months later they had the first major order of 800 electric motors. The company started with the building of new premises in the business park of Sulzberg in 1976. With a market share of 70 - 80 per cent, the Thürwächter Sondermaschinenbau GmbH had a former role in the business of agitators. In this time sales decreased by 40 % because the extension of the production halls was built only by own staff. Due to the latency, the customers switched to the rising competitors. 1980 met the company another blow due to a failed expansion into the United States. 6 years later, in 1986, the company assimilated an additional division in its portfolio and built from now museum showcases. Thereby Gerhard Thürwächter strengthened unwanted the competition because he neglected the construction of the agitators at this time. In 1990 a differentiation of the fields of activity took place when the existing business areas in limited liability companies were spun off. The showcases construction ran under SUMA Sonderkonstruktionen GmbH and the agitator technology under SUMA Sondermaschinen GmbH. By the entry of son Paul Thürwächter, on August 1, 1991, the mixers were optimized and new products were brought on the market. This entails the sale of three submersible mixers for radioactive waste to the today's Nukem GmbH. In 1993 Dipl. Ing. Paul Thürwächter became Managing Director of the company and 6 years later he resumed the shares of his father. Based on the EEG there was a boost to turnover for SUMA Sondermaschinen GmbH in 2004 and 3 years later they celebrated the 50th anniversary of the company. In the same year, the firm SUMA Sondermaschinen GmbH was renamed SUMA Rührtechnik GmbH. An expansion to Brazil consists of the independent company Brasuma, founded in the year 2000, of which the participator Paul Thürwächter holds 52 % of the shares. The expansion into the United States of America took place in the same year. The subsidiary SUMA America Inc. consists of a service team, Sales Manager, a service station and a warehouse.
