They were from Aguascalientes, Aguascalientes[1] and enjoyed their greatest success in the late 1940s. Carolina and her sister Elvira were also the members of another duo called "Las Palomas", which shared a similar style to the duo with her brother David. StyleNot only did the Dueto América sing contemporary songs, they also helped to revive older, almost extinct, folk songs known as corridos (with the help of Fernando Z. Maldonado and Felipe Valdés as composers). In addition to the combination of their voices in a quintessential country style, the Dueto América was also featured for its string accompaniment and the harp executed by Jacinto Gatica. Dueto América and Dueto Amanecer were some of the few musical groups that were accompanied by the harp, at the time. FamilyCarolina is still a member of Dueto Las Palomas but unfortunately David has died, but is survived by his sister Elvira, his wife Juanita and their children who reside in Northern California.
