His ancestral name was Ying ({{zh|c=嬴}}), and Duke Xuan was his posthumous title.[1][2] Duke Xuan was the eldest of the three sons of his father Duke De of Qin, and succeeded his father as ruler of Qin when Duke De died in 676 BC, aged 34. He reigned for 12 years and died in 664 BC. Although Duke Xuan had nine sons, he passed the throne to his younger brother Duke Cheng of Qin, who would in turn pass the throne to the third brother Duke Mu of Qin.[1][2] References1. ^1 {{cite web |url=http://www.guoxue.com/shibu/24shi/shiji/sj_005.htm |script-title=zh:秦本纪 |trans-title=Annals of Qin |work=Records of the Grand Historian |author=Sima Qian |language=Chinese |publisher=guoxue.com |accessdate=1 May 2012}} {{s-start}}{{s-hou|House of Ying||||664 BC}}{{s-reg}}{{s-bef|before=Duke De of Qin}}{{s-ttl||title=Duke of Qin|years=675–664 BC}}{{s-aft|after=Duke Cheng of Qin}}{{end}}{{Monarchs of Qin}}{{DEFAULTSORT:Xuan of Qin, Duke}}2. ^1 {{cite book |title=Annotated Shiji |author=Han, Zhaoqi |year=2010 |publisher=Zhonghua Book Company |isbn=978-7-101-07272-3 |language=Chinese |chapter=Annals of Qin |pages=362–365}} 4 : Year of birth unknown|Rulers of Qin|7th-century BC Chinese monarchs|664 BC deaths |
