释义 |
Pulikkodan Narayanan was one of the most notorious police officers (Sub-Inspector) in Kerala Police who, along with Jayaram Padikkal, allegedly tortured and murdered Rajan, at the Kakkayam police camp in Kerala, during the Indian Emergency (1975 - 77). Pulikkodan (his family name) Narayanan was in charge of Perambra police station, and was specifically moved into the squad dealing with the Naxalites. In his memoires Prof. Eachara Warrier recounts that "Pulikkodan Narayanan began kicking him in his stomach with his heavy police boots. With a loud cry he fell back and writhed on the floor, then became quiet and motionless." Narayanan, Padikkal, and fellow officers of the Kakkayam camp were not convicted, for want of evidence, but many other youths interred at the camp have recounted stories of torture in the Malayalam press. Pulikkodan Narayanan later retired as a Deputy Superintendent of Police (Dy.SP). External links
