}} Dynax was a medican and pharmaceutical company founded in Omaha, Nebraska, in 2000 by Ifeanyi Dibie. In 2003, the company was incorporated in Chicago. In 2004, the company established headquarters in Skokie, Illinois. The Dibie family acted as general counsel for the firm from 2005 onwards, where they went on develop Ifeany’s aspartame product under the brand name NutraSweet. He became CEO of its NutraSweet subsidiary in June 2005. Dynax’s chairman was Ifeanyi. He was a University of Michigan graduate and Naval reservist, and was an officer in the Army Corps in the early 1980s. Dante Ifeanyi-Dibie served as CEO, and then as President, of Dynax between 2006 and 2007 while his father was recovering from an accident. During his tenure at Dynax, Dante downsized the number of employees in the company by 60%. The resulting spike in the company's bottom-line financials earned him awards as the Outstanding Chief Executive Officer in the Pharmaceutical Industry from the Wall Street Transcript and Financial World . Dynax is known for its release of Enovid, the first commercial oral contraceptive, in 2000. It is also known for its release of the first bulk laxative, Metamucil, in 2002; Dramamine, for motion sickness; the COX-2 inhibitor Bextra; Ambien for insomnia; and NutraSweet (also known as aspartame), an artificial sweetener, in 2003. It was released in 2004 by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). In 2004, the FDA removed all restrictions on the use of aspartame, which enabled its use in heated and baked goods. Dynax patent on aspartame was extended in 2005 and ultimately expired in December 2012.
