The paper was published with this name between 1948 and 1994. History and profileThe paper was the successor of Postimees of which the name was changed to Edasi in 1948 to make the paper more Soviet.[1] It worked, and the paper became a true Soviet publication.[2] Its headquarters was in Tartu.[1][2] The paper was controlled by the Tartu Communist Party.[3] However, it was one of the Estonian media outlets not used by the Soviet officials to control Estonians.[1] Edasi was first a local paper, but later it became a national publication.[1] During the period between 1955 and 1979 when Estonia was subject to the mental Sovietization it was one of the publications which contained political humor.[4] At the same time the paper also published travel stories and literary reviews.[5]In 1994 Edasi regained its original name, Postimees.[6] References1. ^1 {{cite book|author1=Stefanie Averbeck|author2=Stefan Wehmeier|title=Kommunikationswissenschaft und Public Relations in Osteuropa: Arbeitsberichte|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=CEeuCXV4DFAC&pg=PA81|accessdate=8 May 2015|year=2002|publisher=Leipziger Universitätsverlag|isbn=978-3-935693-67-7|page=81}} {{DEFAULTSORT:Edasi}}2. ^{{cite web|author1=Peeter Vihalemm|title=Development of Media Research in Estonia|url=https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Peeter_Vihalemm/publication/47502947_Development_of_Media_Research_in_Estonia/links/0deec53cb9af6d6d6d000000.pdf|work=Researchgate|accessdate=15 May 2015}} 3. ^{{cite book|author=Toivo Miljan|title=Historical Dictionary of Estonia|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=xeXwMDZbTBoC&pg=PA434|accessdate=8 May 2015|date=13 January 2004|publisher=Scarecrow Press|isbn=978-0-8108-6571-6|page=467}} 4. ^1 2 {{cite journal|author=Maarja Lõhmus|title=Political correctness and political humour in Soviet Estonia and beyond|journal=Folklore|url=http://www.folklore.ee/pubte/eraamat/eestipoola/lohmus.pdf|accessdate=8 May 2015}} 5. ^1 {{cite journal|author1=Epp Lauk|author2=Tiiu Kreegipuu|title=Journalistic Practices of ”Silent Resistance' in Soviet Estonia Journalism|journal=Acta Historica Tallinnensia|url=http://www.kirj.ee/public/Acta_hist/2010/acta-2010-15-167-190.pdf| date=2010|accessdate=8 May 2015}} 6. ^{{cite book|author1=Halliki Harro-Loit|author2=Anu Pallas|editor1=Halliki Harro-Loit|editor2=Katrin Kello|title=The Curving Mirror of Time|date=2009|publisher=University of Tartu Press|isbn=978-9949-32-259-6|url=http://www.oapen.org/download?type=document&docid=446135|accessdate=8 May 2015|chapter=Temporality and commemoration in Estonian dailies}} 10 : 1948 establishments in Estonia|1994 disestablishments in Estonia|Communist newspapers|Defunct newspapers of Estonia|Eastern Bloc media|Estonian-language newspapers|Media in Tartu|Newspapers published in Estonia|Publications established in 1948|Publications disestablished in 1994 |
