It was abandoned in 1978 when the Patoka Reservoir was built,[2] and it now lies at the bottom of the lake. HistoryEllsworth was platted in 1885. It is named for James M. Ellis, a landowner.[3] A post office was established at Ellsworth in 1878, and remained in operation until 1916.[4] GeographyEllsworth was located at {{coord|38|25|40|N|86|43|06|W|type:city}}.
