}} Elzear Duquette was a Canadian who gained fame as the "King of the Walk," so named for his extremely long, cross-continental solo endurance walks, which he conducted internationally for more than 40 years. From 1969 to 1976, Duquette traveled on foot from his home in Montreal and back, covering a distance of more than 23,000 miles. He pulled behind him a small cart, which he called his "coffin," which he both slept in and used to carry all of his necessities for the trip.
