Early lifeEmile Lahoud Jr. was born in Baabdat, Lebanon on 21 January 1975.[1] He is the eldest son of former Lebanese President Emile Lahoud and Andree Amadoni.[1] EducationEmile Lahoud Jr. completed secondary education at International College in Beirut. He then enrolled at Notre Dame University (NDU). However, he transferred to the Lebanese American University (LAU) in 1993 where he obtained a bachelor of science degree in business marketing in 1997. Next, he began to study politics, international relations, economics, and social affairs at the graduate program of International Affairs at LAU. He received a master's degree there in 1999.[1][2] CareerEmile Lahoud Jr. founded L and R communications, a media company, in 1999.[2] He was elected as the deputy of Metn in August 2000 in the general elections.[3][4] He was part of the list headed by then minister of interior Michel Murr,[5] and his election campaign was managed by Elias Murr. This caused the protests by rival candidates led by then Lebanon President Emile Lahoud's first cousin, Nassib Lahoud. In 2000, he attended a memorial service for the late President-elect Bashir Gemayel. His participation in the ceremony was reported to make upset Syrian authorities.[6] Emile Lahoud Jr. did not take part in the 2005 general elections.[7] He extended his company, L and R communications, to Jordan, Saudi Arabia and Syria in 2006.[2] It is argued that he monopolized the advertising market.[8] Personal lifeLahoud married Sabine Tanbourgi, daughter of Gilbert Tanbourgi in September 2002.[9] He has two children, Emile and Emma.[1] He is a swimmer and participated in 1988 and 1992 Summer Olympic Games.[10] References1. ^1 2 3 {{cite web|title=Emile Emile Lahoud|url=http://www.fanoos.com/society/emile_emile_lahoud.html|publisher=Fanoos|accessdate=13 June 2012}} {{DEFAULTSORT:Lahoud, Emile}}2. ^1 2 {{cite web|title=Biography |url=http://www.emilelahoud.org/biography.php |publisher=Emile Lahoud |accessdate=13 June 2012 |deadurl=yes |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20110502053350/http://www.emilelahoud.org/biography.php |archivedate= 2 May 2011 |df=dmy }} 3. ^{{cite news|title=Opposition Candidates Win Elections|url=http://www.thefreelibrary.com/LEBANON+-+Sept.+3+-+Opposition+Candidates+Win+Elections.-a073739331|accessdate=10 March 2013|work=APS Diplomat Recorder|date=9 September 2000}} 4. ^{{cite journal|last=Yehia|first=Ranwa|title=A lighter Syrian shadow|journal=Al Ahram|date=31 August – 6 September 2000|volume=497|url=http://weekly.ahram.org.eg/2000/497/re4.htm|archive-url=https://web.archive.org/web/20021223092442/http://weekly.ahram.org.eg/2000/497/re4.htm|dead-url=yes|archive-date=2002-12-23|accessdate=15 April 2013}} 5. ^{{cite book|title=Arab Elites: Negotiating the Politics of Change|year=2004|publisher=Lynne Rienner Publishers|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=QkiAmnyuUsMC&pg=PA239|author=Rola el Husseini|editor=Volker Perthes|chapter=Lebanon: Building political dynasties}} 6. ^{{cite journal|title=Damascus concerned about Lahoud Jr.|journal=Middle East Intelligence Bulletin|date=January 2001|volume=3|issue=1|url=http://www.meforum.org/meib/articles/0101_lb.htm|accessdate=30 June 2012}} 7. ^{{cite news|title=Son of Lebanon leader won't run|url=http://www.upi.com/Top_News/2005/05/23/Son-of-Lebanon-leader-wont-run/UPI-56811116854992/|accessdate=30 June 2012|newspaper=UPI |date=23 May 2005}} 8. ^{{cite web|title=Lebanon under direct Syrian control |url=http://www.generalaoun.org/flash02.html |publisher=General Aoun |accessdate=30 June 2012 |deadurl=yes |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20160304002328/http://www.generalaoun.org/flash02.html |archivedate=4 March 2016 |df=dmy }} 9. ^{{cite news|title=President’s son gets married|url=http://www.lebanonwire.com/0209/02090915DS.asp|accessdate=30 June 2012|newspaper=Lebanon Wire|date=9 September 2002}} 10. ^{{cite web|title=Émile Lahoud|url=https://www.sports-reference.com/olympics/athletes/la/emile-lahoud-1.html|work=SR.
