Empire Outlets New York City, also known as Harbor Commons, is a {{convert|350,000|ft2|m2|adj=on}} retail complex being constructed in the St. George neighborhood of Staten Island, New York City. Construction on Empire Outlets started in 2015, and it will feature 100 designer outlets upon its completion in spring 2019. It will be the first outlet mall in New York City. The mall is located next to the St. George Terminal, a major ferry, train, and bus hub. FacilitiesThe {{cvt|350,000|ft2|m2|adj=on}} mall, the city's first outlet mall,[1] will feature 100 designer outlet stores and a {{cvt|120,000|ft2|m2|adj=on}} hotel with 200 rooms.[2][1] There would also be {{convert|3.5|acre|ha}} of outdoor space with a staircase leading to a green roof. The mall would include a 1,200-space parking lot located underground, as well as 22 escalators and 21 elevators. {{As of|July 2018}}, tenants leasing significant amounts of space included H&M, Nordstrom Rack, Nike Factory, and Gap Inc.'s subsidiaries Banana Republic and Old Navy.[1] Empire Outlets is located near St. George Terminal and Richmond County Bank Ballpark.[2][3] The mall is located next to the site of the unbuilt New York Wheel,[7] a {{Convert|625|ft|m|1|adj=on}} tall giant Ferris wheel that was canceled in 2018.[4] The two projects initially went through the approval process simultaneously and shared consultants on issues such as traffic and the waterfront,but were separate projects with separate funding.[5][6] HistoryConstruction on Empire Outlets started in 2015.[1] BFC Partners, based in Brooklyn, is constructing Empire Outlets under the auspices of the developer, an Economic Development Corp [2] named Empire Outlets Builders, LLC.
