词条 | Equitia (gens) |
释义 |
The gens Equitia was a plebeian family at Rome. It is known chiefly from a single individual, Lucius Equitius, said to have been a runaway slave who gave himself out as a son of Tiberius Gracchus, and was in consequence elected tribune of the plebs for 99 BC. While tribune designatus, he took an active part in the designs of Lucius Appuleius Saturninus, and was killed with him in 100 BC. Appian says that his death happened on the day on which he entered upon his office.[1][2][3][4] See alsoList of Roman gentesReferences1. ^Dictionary of Greek and Roman Biography and Mythology, William Smith, Editor. {{SmithDGRBM}}{{DEFAULTSORT:Equitia (Gens)}}{{Roman-gens-stub}}2. ^Appianus, Bellum Civile i. 32, 33. 3. ^Valerius Maximus, Factorum ac Dictorum Memorabilium libri IX iii. 2. § 18. 4. ^Marcus Tullius Cicero, Pro Sestio 47, Pro Gaio Rabirio Postumo 7. 1 : Roman gentes |
