Ernest Jameson Wood (September 2, 1862 – after 1897) was an English-born farmer and political figure in Manitoba. He represented Cypress from 1888 to 1892 in the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba as a Conservative. He was born in Stoke, the son of Reverend Wood, the rector at Grindon.[1] In 1889, he married Evelyn Louise Jones.[2] Wood was defeated when he ran for reelection to the Manitoba assembly in 1892.[3] Later that year, he was named an agent for the Manitoba government stationed in Birmingham to promote immigration. After this appointment ended in 1897, he trained as a clergyman at Lichfield Theological College.[4] References1. ^{{cite book |url=https://books.google.com/books?id=9_wmAAAAMAAJ&pg=PA345 |page=345 |title=The Canadian Parliamentary companion |year=1889 |last=Gemmill |first=J A |accessdate=2012-10-21}} {{DEFAULTSORT:Wood, Ernest J}}{{Manitoba-politician-stub}}2. ^{{cite web |url=http://vitalstats.gov.mb.ca/Query.php |title=Genealogy Searches for Unrestricted Records |work=Vital Statistics |publisher=Government of Manitoba |accessdate=2012-10-21}} 3. ^{{cite web|url=https://www.gov.mb.ca/hansard/members/mla_bio_deceased.html#W0 |title=MLA Biographies - Deceased |work=Legislative Assembly of Manitoba |deadurl=yes |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20140330185239/http://www.gov.mb.ca/hansard/members/mla_bio_deceased.html |archivedate=2014-03-30 |df= }} 4. ^{{cite news |url=http://www.thefreelibrary.com/Perspective%3A+Historic+gateway+to+an+exciting+new+world.-a0114557592 |title=Perspective: Historic gateway to an exciting new world |last=Upton |first=Chris |newspaper=Birmingham Post |date=March 24, 2004 |accessdate=2012-10-21}} 6 : 1862 births|People from Stoke-on-Trent|Year of death missing|Progressive Conservative Party of Manitoba MLAs|Alumni of Lichfield Theological College|English emigrants to Canada |
