词条 | Ragged Island (Massachusetts) |
释义 |
The island was first occupied by John Langlee in the late seventeenth century. In the late nineteenth century, it was developed as part of a summer resort, and it has subsequently been the site of a restaurant and rustic observation shelters. Today, it is uninhabited and has an interesting mix of cultivated and naturalized plants, including lily-of-the-valley, daylily, silver maple, red maple, Norway maple, cedar, Norway spruce, linden, greenbrier and poison ivy. The island is managed by the town of Hingham and access is by private boat only.[1] References1. ^1 {{cite web| title = Ragged Island Factsheet | url = http://www.bostonislands.org/factsheet_template.asp?rsIslands__MMColParam=ragg | publisher = Boston Harbor Islands Partnership | accessdate = October 7, 2006 |archiveurl = https://web.archive.org/web/20070210142507/http://www.bostonislands.org/factsheet_template.asp?rsIslands__MMColParam=ragg |archivedate = February 10, 2007}} {{coord|42|15|25.94|N|70|53|25.58|W|region:US_type:isle_scale:10000|display=title}}{{Islands and Peninsulas of Massachusetts}}{{Boston Harbor Islands}}{{Boston-geo-stub}} 5 : Boston Harbor islands|Uninhabited islands of Massachusetts|Hingham, Massachusetts|Islands of Southeastern Massachusetts|Islands of Plymouth County, Massachusetts |
