PublicationsHer best-known book is Señora de la miel (Senora Honeycomb or Mrs Honeycomb; translated into English in 1996).[2] Her first novel was El hostigante verano de los dioses (The Tormenting Summer of the Gods; 1963). ThemesShe generally avoids overt political messages, although she has dealt with the civil unrest of la Violencia, preferring to focus on broken homes and families which act as metaphors for a country suffering great upheaval.[3] Her works have been associated with the Nadaísmo movement in Colombia. AwardsIn 1964 she won the Cali Theater Festival Prize for her play El hombre de paja (Scarecrow).[3] References1. ^{{cite book|last=Balderston|first=Daniel|title=Encyclopedia of Latin American and Caribbean Literature, 1900-2003|year=2004|publisher=Routledge|author2=Mike Gonzalez|page=93}} {{authority control}}{{DEFAULTSORT:Buitrago, Fanny}}{{Colombia-writer-stub}}2. ^{{cite web|title=Senora Honeycomb (Review)|url=http://www.publishersweekly.com/978-0-06-017365-4|work=Publishers Weekly|accessdate=11 December 2012|date=1996-01-29}} 3. ^1 {{cite book|last=Smith|first=Verity|title=Encyclopedia of Latin American Literature|year=1997|publisher=Taylor & Francis|pages=152–153|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=bFdc24rnt_IC&lpg=PA152&ots=RCM1PDfLu6&dq=Fanny%20Buitrago&pg=PA152#v=onepage&q=Fanny%20Buitrago&f=false}} 5 : 1943 births|Living people|People from Barranquilla|Colombian women writers|International Writing Program alumni |
