Plot

During the 1920s, a World War I veteran Charlie wants to be the first person to win a transnational motorcycle race. He asks for help from his former comrades although they fear he was a deserter.

Charlie picks up a woman and her son, leading to adventure and romance as he continues in the race.

Production

The film was originally written for Steve McQueen.^[3]

Vaccaro was forced to make the movie under her contract with Universal. "I never would have done it otherwise" she said although she later said doing the movie was "great fun".^[4]

Filming took place in July and August 1977 in Oklahoma.
