On 7 April 1993, the polytechnic was changed to a federal government institution and was renamed "The Federal Polytechnic, Nekede".[2] The Federal Polytechnic, Nekede offers National Diploma and Higher National Diploma courses at undergraduate levels.[3] Federal Polytechnic, Nekede has 5 schools(faculties) of study; School of Engineering Technology(SET), School of Industrial and Applied Science(SIAS), School of Business Management Technology(SBMT), School of Humanities and Social Science(SHSS) and School of Environmental Development Technology(SEDT). On 3rd October 2018 Federal Polytechnic Nekede inaugurated Rev. Engr. Dr. Micheal Arimanwa as the 8th Rector of the Polytechnic and first Alumnus Rector of the institution. Rev. Engr. Dr. Micheal Arimanwa is a Priest who is of the Civil Engineering Department, He's the former HOD Civil engineering department, Former Dean School of Engineering.[4] See also
