The car was unveiled at the 1962 Chicago Auto Show.[3] The original was a 3/8-scale model from 1956.[3] This was the second car to be under the Cougar nameplate.[3] The car has 405 horsepower. On the car there was swing-up headlights on the front fenders.[3] In 1963, the Cougar was used in Frederick Brisson's film version of his Broadway comedy hit "Under the Yum Yum Tree".[2] References1. ^{{cite web|author=HoTWire |url=http://retroscenemag.com/post/Rare-Car-Ford-Cougar-I.aspx |title=Rare Car : Ford Cougar I |publisher=Retroscenemag.com |date=1999-02-22 |accessdate=2012-02-03}} {{Ford concept vehicles}}2. ^1 {{cite web|url=http://www.kustomrama.com/index.php?title=1962_Ford_Cougar_406 |title=1962 Ford Cougar 406 |publisher=Kustomrama |date=2010-04-27 |accessdate=2012-02-03}} 3. ^1 2 3 {{cite web|url=http://www.chicagoautoshow.com/show_history/default.aspx?y=1962&vid=176 |title=Show History | 2012 Chicago Auto Show |publisher=Chicagoautoshow.com |date= |accessdate=2012-02-03}} 1 : Ford concept vehicles |
