She served as a member of the Senate and was the first woman to become Minister of Public Education.[2] BiographyBorn in Rome in 1926, she taught Latin and Greek in Roman lyceums before becoming a politician in 1968. In 1974, the Minister of Education Franco Maria Malfatti asked Falcucci to chair a team in charge of researching the problems of disabled students. The "Falcucci Document",[3] issued in 1975, was one of the most advanced studies of disability issues at both the European and international level, promoting a new way of thinking about the issue. The document stated that "... school brings educational action and potential of each student, and looks as the most appropriate structure to overcome the conditions of marginalization that would otherwise be condemned children with disabilities ..."[3] She died on 4 September 2014.[4] Her niece Alessandra assisted her during the end of her life.[5] Notes1. ^{{cite web | url=http://www.senato.it/leg/10/BGT/Schede/Attsen/00000930.htm | title=Senato della Repubblica - Senatrice Franca Falcucci | author=Senato della Repubblica | date= | publisher=www.senato.it | accessdate=6 September 2014 | language=Italian}} 2. ^{{cite web | url=http://www.corriere.it/scuola/14_settembre_04/morta-franca-falcucci-primo-ministro-donna-dell-istruzione-f0d38592-3431-11e4-a3ec-50d128513f28.shtml | title=È morta Franca Falcucci, primo ministro donna dell’Istruzione | author=Redazione Scuola | date=5 September 2014 | publisher=www.corriere.it | accessdate=5 September 2014 | language=Italian}} 3. ^1 {{cite web | url=http://www.edscuola.it/archivio/didattica/falcucci.html | title=RELAZIONE CONCLUSIVA DELLA COMMISSIONE FALCUCCI CONCERNENTE I PROBLEMI SCOLASTICI DEGLI ALUNNI HANDICAPPATI | author=Antonio Martino | date=1975 | publisher=www.edscuola.it | accessdate=6 September 2014 | language=Italian}} 4. ^{{cite web | url=http://www.repubblica.it/politica/2014/09/04/news/muore_l_ex_ministro_e_senatrice_franca_falcucci-95008199/ | title=Muore l'ex ministro dell'Istruzione e senatrice Franca Falcucci | author= | date=4 September 2014 | publisher=www.repubblica.it | accessdate=6 September 2014 | language=Italian}} 5. ^{{it}} Corriere della Sera, 5 September 2014, page 55, Addii, aveva 88 anni External links{{commons category|Franca Falcucci}}{{S-start}}{{S-off}}{{S-bef|before=Guido Bodrato}}{{s-ttl|title=Italian Minister of Education|years=1982–1987}}{{s-aft|after=Giovanni Galloni}}{{S-end}}{{Fanfani V Cabinet}}{{Craxi I Cabinet}}{{Craxi II Cabinet}}{{Fanfani VI Cabinet}}{{Authority control}}{{DEFAULTSORT:Falcucci, Franca}}{{Italy-politician-stub}} 11 : 1926 births|2014 deaths|People from Rome|Christian Democracy (Italy) politicians|Politicians of Lazio|20th-century Italian politicians|Members of the Senate of the Republic (Italy)|Italian women in politics|Education ministers of Italy|20th-century women politicians|Women government ministers of Italy |
