Francesco Conti (died 1521) was an Italian Roman Catholic bishop and cardinal. BiographyFrancesco Conti was born in Rome, ca. 1470, the son of Jacopo Conti, signore of Carpineto (and a member of the Roman nobility); and Elisabetta Carafa della Stadera.[1] He was the nephew of Cardinal Giovanni Conti.[1] He was educated in law.[1] On October 8, 1494, he was elected Archbishop of Conza.[1] He never visited the archdiocese, ruling through a series of vicar generals.[1] Pope Leo X made him a cardinal priest in the consistory of July 1, 1517.[1] He received the red hat and the titular church of San Vitale on July 6, 1517.[1] He served as Camerlengo of the Sacred College of Cardinals from January 11, 1520 to January 7, 1521.[1]He died in Rome on June 29, 1521.[1] He is buried in San Vitale.[1] See also
