McCashney’s family owned a sawmill at Trentham and he commenced his football career playing with the Trentham club.[2] He made his debut for {{AFL Ric}} in 1909 and became a prominent player in their side during the pre-war period. He was a great stab kick who could send long driving left foot kicks downfield and in 1913 he represented Victoria against South Australia. Two of his brothers, John McCashney (South Melbourne) and Jim McCashney ({{AFL Haw}}), also played VFL football. He married Daisy Ella Smith in 1916 and they had three children. They lived in Richmond and he worked as a mechanic after his football career. Frank McCashney died of cancer in 1951.[3] Notes1. ^{{cite book |title=The Encyclopedia of AFL Footballers: every AFL/VFL player since 1897 |last=Holmesby|first=Russell|last2=Main|first2=Jim |year=2014 |edition=10th |isbn=978-1-921496-32-5 |publisher=BAS Publishing |location=Seaford, Victoria}} 2. ^{{cite web |url=http://www.heraldsun.com.au/archive/news/maryborough-castlemaine-football-league/story-fn5bye9r-1225851788779?nk=cc8fc59f8be055b074d85de2d07b0d05 | title=Maryborough Castlemaine Football League |date=9 April 2010 |publisher=Sunday Herald Sun}} 3. ^{{cite news |url=http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article58568826 |title=ALEXANDRA CLUB CHATTER. |newspaper=Alexandra, Eildon, Marysville Standard |location=Vic. |date=27 July 1951 |page=2 |publisher=National Library of Australia}} External links
