Fudaishi is noted for his "lecture" on the Diamond Sutra, recorded in the Hekiganroku (Record of the Blue Cliffs). According to this account, Fudaishi was invited to speak by the Emperor Bu-tei. He stepped up to the lectern, struck it a blow with his staff, and then returned to his seat without speaking a word.[4][5] He is regarded as in incarnation of Miroku, the Waiting Buddha.[1] References1. ^1 {{cite book|author1=Louis Fr?d?ric|author2=Louis-Frédéric|title=Japan Encyclopedia|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=p2QnPijAEmEC&pg=PA194|year=2002|publisher=Harvard University Press|isbn=978-0-674-01753-5|pages=194}} {{Japan-reli-bio-stub}}2. ^{{cite book|author=Daisetz Teitaro Suzuki|title=Manual Of Zen Buddhism|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=f7PUAgAAQBAJ&pg=PT132|date=27 September 2012|publisher=Netlancers Inc|isbn=978-1-62394-103-1|pages=132}} 3. ^{{cite book|author=Iso Mutsu|title=Kamakura: Fact and Legend: Fact and Legend|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=HQvQAgAAQBAJ&pg=PT277|date=13 December 2013|publisher=Tuttle Publishing|isbn=978-1-4629-0871-4|pages=277}} 4. ^{{cite book|author=Zenkei Shibayama|title=A Flower Does Not Talk: Zen Essays|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=N4_QAgAAQBAJ&pg=PT14|date=13 December 2013|publisher=Tuttle Publishing|isbn=978-1-4629-0971-1|pages=14}} 5. ^{{cite book|author1=Zhiyu|author2=Hakuin|title=Every End Exposed: The 100 Koans of Master Kidō : with the Answers of Hakuin-Zen|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=CYzjAAAAMAAJ|year=1977|publisher=Autumn Press|isbn=978-0-394-42069-1|page=22}} 4 : 490 births|560 deaths|Chinese Buddhist monks|Japanese deities |
