This is an evolved K-type giant star with a stellar classification of K5 III.[4] The measured angular diameter, after correction for limb darkening, is {{Val|4.86|0.05|u=mas}}.[20] At the estimated distance of the star, this yields a physical size of about 67 times the radius of the Sun.[12] It is a suspected variable star, with an amplitude of 0.01 magnitude.[22] The star radiates 864 times the solar luminosity from its outer atmosphere with an effective temperature of 4,053 K.[13]
In the next 7500 years, the south Celestial pole will pass close to this stars (4200 CE).{{citation needed|date=December 2016}}
