}}Gamochaeta sphacelata, called Owl's crown,[2] is a species of flowering plant in the sunflower family. It is widespread across South America, Central America, and Mexico with the distribution just barely crossing the Río Grande into western Texas.[2][3]Gamochaeta sphacelata is an annual herb up to {{convert|50|cm|in|abbr=on}} tall. Leaves are long and narrow, up to {{convert|4|cm|in|abbr=on}} long. The plant forms many small flower heads in elongated arrays.
