}}Geastrum rufescens, commonly known as the rosy earthstar, is a species of fungus in the family Geastraceae. It was first described scientifically by Christian Hendrik Persoon in 1801. It has a pale pinkish-buff to pinkish exoperidium and rays. The earthstar is found in Europe, North America (including Mexico), and Japan, where it typically grows at the base of old oak stumps.[3] References1. ^1 {{cite journal |author=Ponce de Leon P. |title=A revision of the family Geastraceae |journal=Fieldiana |year=1968 |volume=31 |issue=14 |publisher=Chicago Natural History Museum |location=Chicago, Illinois |pages=320 |url=https://www.biodiversitylibrary.org/page/2452191}} [1][2]2. ^1 {{cite web |title=GSD Species Synonymy: Geastrum rufescens Pers. |url=http://www.speciesfungorum.org/GSD/GSDspecies.asp?RecordID=121327 |publisher=Species Fungorum: CAB International |accessdate=2014-12-20}} }} External links
